NALTAR- ISHKOMAN (Pakora Pass trek 4720 M)

The Pakora Pass Trek is an adventurous and off-the-beaten-path trek located in northern Pakistan. It is renowned for its breathtaking scenery, cultural richness, and challenging terrain. The Pakora Pass, standing at an elevation of 4,710 meters, links Naltar Gah and Pakora Gol. The Shani and Sentinel peaks attract climbers from around the world.

In this region, Naltar villagers primarily speak Shina, while Pakora villagers communicate in Khowar. The trek offers panoramic views of towering peaks, serene alpine meadows, glacial rivers, and remote valleys. Depending on the chosen route, the trek can range from moderately strenuous to highly challenging.

This adventure also provides opportunities to interact with local communities, many of whom are indigenous to these remote areas, offering a glimpse into their traditional lifestyles and hospitality.

The best time to trek is during the summer months (June to September) when the weather is clear and the trails are accessible. Autumn (September to October) brings cooler temperatures and vibrant fall colors. However, the trek demands a good level of fitness due to long walking hours, steep ascents, and rugged trails. Essential gear includes warm clothing, sturdy trekking boots, sleeping bags, and camping equipment.

The area is home to various wildlife, including ibex, snow leopards, and Himalayan birds. Trekking also involves crossing glacial streams, which can be both exciting and challenging. The Pakora Pass offers an escape from the crowds, making it ideal for those seeking solitude.

If you are considering this trek, ensure thorough preparation, including acclimatization days, and always prioritize safety.
