KARUN KOH PEAK EXPEDITION

Karun Koh is a beautiful and remote mountain located in the Shimshal Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan. Part of the Karakoram range, it stands at an elevation of approximately 6,977 meters, making it a significant peak, albeit less well-known than some of its neighbors.

Due to its remote location, rugged terrain, and challenging weather conditions, Karun Koh is primarily a destination for experienced mountaineers. The peak can be accessed through the Shimshal Valley, which is reachable via a trek from Zairat in Shimshal, a part of the Hunza Valley. The mountain is surrounded by dramatic landscapes, glaciers, and isolated valleys, offering a unique experience for those interested in remote mountaineering.

The Shimshal Valley, often referred to as “The Valley of Mountaineers,” is home to many renowned climbers in Pakistan. Additionally, there are alternative routes from Sost Murkhun through the Boibar Valley.
